A note from Michael

Our Herding Experience
Instinct Test

A 40 dog test day….we were the last dog….stock was tired and bunched in a corner with tails out…..tester’s  dog could not get them out….tester with crook couldn’t get them out…..tester’s dog and Silky couldn’t get them out.   Silky backed off and looked the situation over; you could see the wheels turning……she rushed back in, grabbed a long tail, and began pulling, just like she was playing tug-a-war.
It worked!
The ewe was so shocked she bleated and rushed out of the corner. The other two broke and they were back in the center of the testing area……the spectators laughed, then applauded.
My eight-month-old baby BC did "Away to me,"  "Come bye," "Get out," and even a "Walk up," though she has no idea what any of those commands actually mean; she just did them (with a little help from the tester).
Silky and Dad made there debut in the Breed ring with a bang.  Michael did a great job of handling Silky but got a little too excited to keep her in a stack for pictures...
